LCR Honda has just announced that Moto2 champion Stefan Bradl will test for the squad this year. The team said in a press release that: “we welcome the request from HRC to provide our RC212V to Moto2 champion Stefan Bradl to give him the opportunity to try out a MotoGP bike.”
But it is clear that with Bradl having won the intermediate crown that he is now looking for a viable ride in the premier class. With LCR having confirmed that Toni Elias will leave the squad there is an available prototype machine for 2012.
It had been expected that Randy de Puniet would return to the team but with Bradl able to bring in funds from Weismann it is clear that he is now in pole position to claim one of the last remaining rides in the premier class that will not place a rider on a CRT machine.
A move to Pramac Ducati brought little success last season and with Andrea Iannone the favourite to take Simoncelli’s ride with Gresini de Puniet could quite easily be the odd man out and be forced to look for a CRT ride or indeed to investigate options in World Superbikes.
