The German has just posted his fastest lap of the race and with traffic set to play a key role in the coming hours the number three car is well placed to move into the lead. Bernard trails Capello by just under three seconds after five and a half hours.
Marcel Fassler runs in third a lap behind the leaders following an unplanned pit stop earlier in the race. The number one crew has shown consistent pace but the extra 90s spent in the pits has left them adrift and on the final step of the podium.
With Simon Pagenaud having made an additional pit stop Nick Heidfeld has moved ahead of the Muscle Milk driver into fourth position for Rebellion. The German’s pace has been consistent but will be due into pits in the coming laps and will drop back behind his HPD rival. David Brabam is sixth with a comfortable lead ahead of the all new Lola-Mazda driven by Kris Dyson.
In the LMP2 class Joao Barbosa leads by 23s from Pierre Kaffer and Stephane Sarrazin. In the LMPC class EJ Viso continues to lead even though the 06 Oreca has made three additional stops compared to their class rivals.
