Silva leads the way in pointless FP1

A rain shower just as the riders were due to start opening practice ahead of Sunday’s Spanish MotoGP race made the 45 minute all but irrelevant with only eight riders venturing onto the Jerez circuit.

Only three riders set a time with Ivan Silva topping the time sheets ahead of Stefan Bradl and Randy de Puniet.

Second practice is due to start in three hours and with heavier rain now falling it will be interesting to see if the more stable conditions offer a more viable session.
