On a blustery morning at Silverstone Sandro Cortese set the pace in final practice for the Moto3 class.
The German has been riding superbly of late and his rich vein of form shows no signs of nearing an end. The championship leader wound up just under two tenths of a second faster than Maverick Vinales with Miquel Oliviera a similar margin adrift of Vinales.
The trio have proved to be the class of the Moto3 field throughout the season thus far and with Olivieria fresh from his first rostrum finish he has looked confident and fast this weekend. His result in Barcelona marked him as the first ever Portuguese rider to stand on the podium in any Grand Prix class and has the hallmarks of being a springboard to a championship challenge. His Estrella Galicia teammate, Alex Rins, was sixth fastest after another strong showing.
The homecrowd were given plenty to cheer about with Danny Kent and Danny Webb both in the top eight and ahead of Romano Fenati and Luis Salom.
Fenati has struggled of late after his tremendous start to his rookie campaign but it seems that Silverstone is more to his liking than some of the recent venues.
