Jorge Lorenzo was left ruing what might have been after qualifying in fourth position ahead of tomorrow’s British Grand Prix.
The championship leader was one of many riders who felt that he failed to show his true potential because of the changeable conditions that saw rain fall in the final ten minutes of the session.
“I started pushing a lot [harder] and had a very good feeling,” commented the Spaniard. “Unfortunately I didn’t improve the laptime and the reason was the weather.
“Bautista and Ben [Spies] were fast at the right moment and they got the best positions. I feel that I could be much faster than the lap-time I did but anyway the position is good for tomorrow and I have a good pace [for the race.]”
Having claimed three victories so far in 2012 Lorenzo holds a commanding 20 point championship lead over Stoner but with changeable conditions expected tomorrow it seems that the weather will oncea again play a key role.
