Rossi motivated and happy in Holland

Valentino-Rossi-Barcelona-MotoGP-FP4-2013Valentino Rossi was on the pace in both sessions today in Assen ahead
of the Dutch TT but the Italian admitted that he will be under
pressure this weekend following Jorge Lorenzo’s injury.

With the reigning world champion sidelined this weekend following his
high speed crash Rossi admitted to the media that while he will be
under extra pressure he is motivated by it to get back onto the
podium:

“There is some extra motivation and some extra pressure because
unfortunately Jorge had a big crash and is injured and cannot race, so
I will be the only factory Yamaha,” said the Italian. “I will have to
try and make a good result in front of the Hondas for the
championship.”

Valentino Rossi Le Mans MotoGP Race 2013 (8)Rossi has not stood on the rostrum since the season opening Qatar
Grand Prix but has shown signs of progress of late. At the French
Grand Prix he was fast before crashing in the rain and after the
Catalan Grand Prix Rossi declared that he had made a step forward with
the bike and improved his feeling under braking. At Assen he said it
was “too early to say” if those improvements translated to the Dutch
venue.

Valentino Rossi Le Mans MotoGP Qualifying 2013He was however very positive following both practice sessions and
happy with the bike in both wet and dry conditions:

“Today was a good day of practice,” said the nine times world
champion. “We started this morning in the dry and the performance was
not so bad and at the end I was fourth but it was very close. We had
to work to improve the settings as I had a problem with the rear grip.
We had some stuff to try in the afternoon but unfortunately it was
wet.

“I am very happy with the afternoon because after initially having a
problem we modified the balance of the bike and after that I was very
fast and finished just behind Marc. I am very happy with the
performance this afternoon but we have to continue to work in both
conditions to be ready for Saturday.”
