Stefan Bradl continued his recent run of good form by setting the second fastest time on the opening day of practice for Sunday’s United States Grand Prix.
The German, who finished fourth at last week’s German round, was beaten only by Marc Marquez today at Laguna Seca. When asked if he now felt that a first premier class podium was a possibility the LCR Honda rider said:
“We need to improve our race performance a little,” said Bradl. “I am struggling a little more on used tyres than some of the other guys but we are improving. We are not far away [from the podium] and I am trying my best to finish on the podium but it is not easy.
“We can do a good job this weekend but I’m not thinking about the podium I am just focusing on each practice session. The bike is OK but we need to improve in hard braking areas. We are missing some confidence and are turning the front tyre too much.”
His future has been one of the bigger talking points of the last week with numerous rumours circulating about who will ride for LCR next season but Bradl is confident that everything will be resolved soon:
“I am still waiting for Honda’s decision but I am not too worried about it and I am quite convinced that it will work soon.”
