Marquez takes advantage of “big opportunity”

marc-marquez-laguna-seca-warmup-2013Marc Marquez has opened a 16 point lead in the world championship following his second consecutive victory. The Spanish rookie has adapted the premier class with such ease that he already appears to be a seasoned veteran. Speaking after his third MotoGP victory the 20 year old said:
“I am very happy with the result. In the race we struggled a little bit on full tanks and it was very easy to make a small mistake and lose the front,” said Marquez. “I warmed the tyres and when I felt everything was ready I started to push.”
Once he decided to push he was able to dispatch of Valentino Rossi with a spectacular move at the Corkscrew and than close the gap to Stefan Bradl and take the lead at half distance. When asked afterwards if was surprised to be leading the championship the Spaniard said:
“What’s important is that I feel so good on the bike. We will see what happens in the second half of the season but it would be interesting to see what it is like when Jorge and Dani are fully fit because that will be more difficult but in Germany and here we had a big opportunity to win two races and we did that.”
The next race of the season is three weeks away and while Marquez admitted that he would prefer to race again immediately he did admit that it was also important to “Take a holiday and try and relax and recharge my batteries.”
