Laverty confirms switch to ART

michael laverty misano motogp qualifying 2013Following a successful post San Marino Grand Prix test Michael Laverty has confirmed that for the remainder of the season he will race the ART chassis.

The Irishman has been racing PBM’s chassis throughout his rookie season but with Yonny Hernandez moving to Pramac for the rest of the season an opportunity presented itself to race the Aprilia developed chassis. The team had always planned to use the Misano test to provide Laverty with an opportunity to perform back to back tests comparing both bikes and having been more competitive on the ART he has decided to race that bike for the remaining five races:

The change in bikes provides a new challenge for Laverty but it is one that he is clearly enthusiastic about his chances for the rest of the season:

“It’s a completely different bike to ride and set up so looking forward to getting stuck in at Aragon and see where I can get to on it.”
