Stefan Bradl will start the Qatar Grand Prix from seventh on the grid and with the German having struggled for one lap throughout the weekend it was not a surprise to see him start from the third row of the grid. The competitive qualifying session was such that Bradl was less than four tenths from pole.
When asked by Crash.net following the qualifying session if his laptime was the most he could get from the bike on the soft tyre the German said:
“I think that today we improved the bike and could use the soft tyre better than yesterday so I could get more of the potential from the bike than yesterday and that’s positive,” said Bradl. “A the end finishing seventh isn’t what we wanted and we would have wanted to be more in front but anyway it’s not that bad.”
With a mixed up grid seeing Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa line up just ahead of him on the grid and Aleix Espargaro and Valentino Rossi starting from ninth and tenth position respectively Bradl is expecting an exciting race with the fastest riders all showing similar race pace on their race simulations:
“I’m expecting an exciting race tomorrow because there are many riders-Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Espargaro-that have the same pace on race tyres so that’s going to make a tight race tomorrow. We’ll try and do our best tomorrow and go with the guys in front and keep up our speed as much as possible.”
